I own a copy of the Full Steam Ahead Thermomix cookbook and at first glance you may be forgiven for thinking it is full of really weird recipes…however when you actually read them you discover a plethora of tantalizing meals. This is one of them:

Never mind the fact that I did not read the recipe right and put in too much spinach – it was absolutely delicious. It was super easy too so I can see it becoming a regular especially in the cooler months.

Inspired Stamping

Alas my craft room is in disarray! I had the wonderful idea of moving it from the third bedroom out to the unused and lonely family room. A great holiday project, or so I thought. I got busy organizing the heavy things for James and friend to lift but then James’ back took a turn so I am in craft room limbo til he’s recovered.
However that was no deterrent for me to get my craft on. I thought a little card would be manageable in the small space I had to stamp so I flicked through my favorite mag – UK Craft Stamper. This is what I came up with…

There was an article on how to colour stamped images with pencils – just the cheap no frills primary school type. This is my first proper effort coloring images this way and I’m rather pleased with the result. The stamp is one of the cover freebies from Craft Stamper, so sweet.

I was so excited the other day…

My order from Threadless arrived! I’m so happy with the designs I chose, they look fantastic. If you haven’t heard of Threadless you absolutely must check them out. And look out for their sales as most tshirts come down to USD$10.00 which works out preety sweet for us Aussies. Now I’m set for summer <3

Sunday Breakfast

I finally got around to making the Waffle Iron Brownies from Jo at Quirky Cooking. I’ve always lurrved waffles and reading Jo’s recipe was all the encouragement I needed to go and buy a waffle iron. I just got a basic one from a “cheap shop” and for $12 it works a treat.
The batter is whizzed up in the Thermomix and tastes divine even before waffling! I used regular flour as we’re not intolerant and I didn’t have pecans handy but they were optional anyway.

Served with fresh banana, natural yoghurt and a drizzle of maple syrup. Yum!

Empty frames project

Here’s a little project I did a while back.

I’d seen similar done a long time ago and when I happened upon a bunch of empty, glass-less frames I knew just what to do. I am so happy with the result, it’s just how I pictured it (no pun intended!)

Christmas cards in black

My sister in law and niece visited on the weekend and we decided to start making our Christmas cards – seeing as there’s only 27 sleeps to go. Yikes!
We copied an old workshop I had but Katherine came up with the idea of using black base cards. I think they look great and the black makes the colored chalk ink really pop. And she says she’s not creative!

Kiev’s for dinner

Tonight we had this

Chicken Kiev’s made in the TM and baked in the oven. Yummy and I know everything that was in them! The recipe is from the Thermomix forum and you can make them ahead, freeze them, then crumb just before baking. We also had scalloped potatoes as requested by James. So good mmm.

Wow May already and we are edging closer to winter each day brrr! Winter is not my favorite time of year but at least there is more time inside for crafts and cooking.

I have been compiling my own Thermomix word document full of recipes and tips and my friend Juene has just pointed me in the direction of another great TM blog called Quirky Cooking. Jo has some fantastic recipes on her blog that include wheat free and dairy free foods so if you are struggling with dietary limitations head on over to Jo’s. James and I are lucky in that we don’t have any food allergies or intolerance so we can eat just about anything however there are some tasty looking recipes on quirky that I am dying to try out like Sue – Ellen’s Singapore Noodles and Creamy Chicken and Brown Rice Soup. Don’t they sound devine? Well just wait till you see the photos! Jo is somewhat of chocaholic so she has lots of recipes of that nature including how to make your own dairy free chocolate – who knew?

I also came across Tenina’s blog which is choc full of scrumptious looking TM recipes. Today I was inspired by both these blogs and have made Jo’s Rice-Almond Milk which was really easy. So far I’ve only had it in my Rooibus tea and it’s a very mild almond flavour. And I made Tenina’s Date and Honey Loaf which was also a breeze and rose nicely even though I had my doubts. It tastes like treacle or ginger bread even though there’s no ginger in it. Just lovely smothered in butter with a cup of tea! I’ve also stuck some almonds in the oven to roast to try making almond butter so we’ll see how that turns out.

My friend Juene is a Thermomix consultant so if you are wondering what it’s all about she can hook you up with a free demo if you’re in our area (NE Vic). I can highly recommend this magical machine – the possibilities for using it are endless and I am more than happy with mine. I don’t think Juene has a blog but if you’d like more info drop me a line or comment and I can pass your details on to her.

Speaking of Juene, this weekend I am heading over to her retreat for some scrapbooking and card making with some friends from Kaszazz. I actually put an order in and got the Tree stamp that Nadia made all those cards with at my place! Looking forward to some creative goodness. Oh and Juene will be cooking most of our meals with the TM, yummo. I have to mention that both Nadia and Kaylene had Thermomix demo’s after the crafty weekend at my house and they both bought one. Once you see it in action you just fall head over heels!

Ok off to pack for the weekend and make some almond butter )
