Kitchen Kapers with Kris

29 Mar

Hey folks,

I am going to start running workshops from home again.  It’s been a while but I really enjoyed having my little group at home.  Of course everyone is welcome and it’s a good way to get in on some of these fabulous workshops when you don’t have your own group of friends to scrap with.  You can find the May and June class shedule here -  kitchen-kapers-with-kris-no1 you’ll have to click again on the little picture of a page (not sure why it does that?).

Why kitchen kapers I hear you ask?  Well because quite litterally they are held in my kitchen and we do get up to all sorts of capers!  It’s a bunch of fun.

paper punch inspiration

3 Mar

Hi All

I hope you are busy crafting away making some projects for the punch challenge competition!  I thought I would give you some more creative ideas (and a bit of a nudge!) so I hopped on over to the two peas site and these are some of the gems I found…

kimbermcgray

What a fabulous way to use a love heart punch!  Thanks to kimbermcgray for being so clever.

nylene

Some cute little cards using a flower punch from nylene.  She has used an old book to punch the flowers – never would have thought of that one.

nicol-magouirk

From nicol magouirk a lovely love heart layout.  Pink and green is so uplifting.

kimmylynnd1

And some fabulous flowers from kimmylynnd.  A great background paper and a few punched flowers makes for a simple yet stunning result.

There’s some very talented craftistas out there so head over to the two peas members gallery for inspiration.

Oh and I just had to show you this gorgeous idea from Shao Wang, I was going to post a picture here but it’s just not happening, something about bitmaps etc.  So head on over to Shao’s blog, she has lots of lovely little artworks.  I love the idea of making paper flowers, I must explore this further.  We don’t have many blooms in our garden and buying pretty bunches of flowers can be expensive sometimes so this would be a perfect solution!

Have fun and don’t forget to email me your creations,

Kris

PS  I hope to post my card samples for two up coming workshops soon.

open day

5 Feb

There is so much going on I just don’t know if I’m Arthur or Martha.  Gosh don’t take that the wrong way! Ha ha ha!

This Saturday is our Kaszazz Open Day.  It’s being held at the Salvation Army Hall (I’m told it has great air conditioning – yay) on the corner of Orr and Nixon Street in Shepparton from 10 am until 2pm.  So if you’re going to be in town and you’re looking for a cool resting spot come on by!  There are hourly giveaways going off and a Major Prize full of lots of brand new product ($100 worth).  To be in the running for the Major Prize all you need to do is book a FREE Make and Take or workshop from 7th of Feb to 7th March.  How great is that – you will also get lots of goodies just by hosting the event, you can’t go wrong!  I would love to meet any readers of this blog and catch up with my regular customers so please drop in and introduce yourself.  You can also have a play with some of our brand new products – we are doing FREE make and takes all day too.  Wow it’s going to be a fabulous day.

If you have any questions feel free to give me a call on 0400 576 190.

Brayer Cards

9 Sep

Howdy ho neighbourinoes.  Well I’m officially on a week and a half leave from work yippeee.  I celebrated by buying a bottle of champers I mean sparkling wine on the way home from work and am halfway through my second glass.  I feel more relaxed already although that could be the bubbly hee hee.

Tomorrow I’m running the Brayer card workshop which is one of my favorites.  It’s like magic watching the stamped image come through the coloured ink and it’s look super fancy too.  I’m thinking I might all domestic and bake some lemon squares in the morning yummo.  On Sunday I made home made marshmallows!  I can’t believe how easy peasy they were (nor how much sugar is in them).

I think I will refrain from buying my mallows in the future as this way I know exactly what’s in them (lots of sugar ha).  I found heaps of recipes on the Internet but chose the simplest one, the results were good but I might tweak it and play around with it a little as they may have been a tad squishy.  One day I’m going to make these flippin smores that that Americans always talk about but first I need to find an aussie substitute for Graham crackers…anyone?

Here’s a photo of my cutie pie god daughter isn’t she gorgeous?  I haven’t seen her for sooo long and she has grown like heaps, she’s a real little girl now not a baby anymore.

Okay I’m beat – off to watch NCIS.  It’s funny I couldn’t stand the show when it first came out but now I really enjoy it – the same can’t be said for numbers though, surely everything does NOT boil down to an algorithm?

Mr Monty

13 Aug

Little mister Monty cat has settled right in.  I hope he doesn’t think he’s here to stay!  He is so terribly cute though, but I must think of my other fur kids especially ol’ grey Scratchy as he’s not very happy about our latest visitor.

This morning I had a friend over to scrap and I finally did something will the left overs from the Cheeky Surprise Box.  I made a few cards and I still have heaps of patterned paper left.  The Surprises Boxes are a Kaszazzitem and they are only $9.95ea which is cheap as chips when you see how much paper you’re left with.  Great value and perfect as a gift.  I thought the colours in the pack would be perfect for some fun photo’s of all my girl friends.  The boxes are available in many different colour schemes and a little birdie told me there will be new ones coming out very soon!  Find them on page 3 of the Kaszazz Catalogue.  Here is a pic of the completed box..

and here are the cards I’ve made so far with the left overs

Not bad huh?  I’ve also got a photo of the very first workshop I taught which was the Stand Up Page featuring the large F chipboard.  My customers chose their own feature word to suit their photo whether it be Friends or Family.  They all came out looking fabulous and I think a few were surprised at what they were able to achieve.  I had a great time teaching it too.  I used a photo of my granma, cousin and I taken on Christmas Day 2007.  I used Photoshop Elements to change it into Sepia after discovering the sepia button on the Big W photo kiosk didn’t give a very good result.  I found the instructions on the Internet (where else?) and they were easy to follow.  I’ll definitely be referring back to them the next time I need something in sepia.

It’s great to create Beyond The Page projects that you put out on display rather than sticking pages in an album that only comes out occasionally.

Well I guess I’d better pay some bills, how exciting!  I got my tax back today which was a nice surprise as I didn’t expect it back so soon – thankyou The Tax Shop!  And it looks like rain so I best run out and get the washing off the line, God knows where I’m going to put it all.

Card challenge for July 08 - Tombow pens
Card challenge for July 08 – Tombow pens

OK so here I am trying ever so hard to create a gallery where I can post all my photo’s for you to view but I’m not getting anywhere fast.  So until I can work it all out I will just slap the pic’s in here with my posts for now.  The card above was for my July card challenge using Tombow Dual Brush pens.  I was really worried about getting it done so I procrastinated right up to the last minute then was surprised at how well it came out.  It’s just a simple sweet little card.  I used the Tombows to colour the rubber stamp which I’d never done before.  I love the effect and will be definetely buying some Tombows for my own stash.  All the tools and materials used were from the Kaszazz range as it was a consultant card challenge group.  The Challenge for this month is the Adirondack Paint Dabbers so I’ll have to find some inspiration and start creating.

On Friday night I held a 5PQ Workshop where we made Ooh La La cards using various techniques like embossing, stamping, punching and so on.  Here’s a pic…

Wow you have no idea how long it’s taken me to get these photo’s sorted – I wish I knew what I was doing instead of just learning as I go.  Hopefully this post will come out looking ok, apologies if it doesn’t!

Check back later for some pictures of my upcoming workshops

…her first foray into blogging

7 Aug

Well folks, here goes nothing.  This is my very first blog post and I’m a little nervous.  Please be patient with me as I learn the ropes around here.  I have no idea what most of the terms mean and I keep heading back to the help and FAQ section to look for answers.  Anyway it’s something new for me to learn and I’m excited about it.

I hope to be able to create a fun and informative blog mostly centered around my scrapbooking and card making life and to connect with like minded others.  So drop in and say hi and tell me what you’ve been creating lately.

I suppose I should let you know a bit about me (since I haven’t filled in the profile yet).  Ok where to start?  I love scrapbooking and all things scrapbooking.  My life pretty much revolves around it now that I’m running my own business.  I’m an independant consultant with Kaszazz and since joining in July this year I’ve been having an absolute ball.  It has opened up so many opportunities for me and I’m loving every minute.  I’ve been scrapbooking for about 5 years but really only got stuck into it in the last 2 years.  Now I’m with Kaszazz I’ve been more involved in the card making aspect and love these little pieces of art.  I’ve seen many beautiful cards from my searches on the internet and am always amazed at the talent that’s out there.

So that’s part of my story, stay tuned for more…

Kris
