happy dayz

18 Dec

Wow yesterday I felt like Ireally acheived a lot.  I had my 2H workshop tested with positive results and very little changes to fix up.  I made two male versions of the workshop to give as Christmas gifts.  Unpacked my last order; which includes a lot of goodies to make the sample for the Kyabram workshops.  Cleaned the house and watched Into The Wild from my Quickflix FREE trial account.  Ihad one of those email offers pop up in my inbox for a free one month trial with 8 movies and I thought it would be a good idea to take it up over the holiday season, save me going to the video store.

I’m hoping to make the changes to my workshop submission and send it off this week.  My testers really loved it so I’m hoping Kaszazz will accept it.  I tried to use products that have been forgotten about like the Perfect Medium Pens which are so much fun to use.  They are suitable for embossing, dry chalking, watermarking, Perfect Pearls and much more.  The best thing about them is you can draw or write whatever you want if you don’t have the appropriate stamp to use on your project; so versatile!  They are only $15.95 for two pens; one is a bullet tip and one a brush tip, you can find them on page 63 of the Kaszazz Catalogue and Project Book or right here.  This is my first submission of a 2H Workshop so I’m a bit nervous.  I’ll let you know how I go…

Plans include wrapping presents, making the plum pudding in the slow cooker (a first for me), attempting to tidy the garden and writing my last minute grocery list.  So nothing overly strenuous.  I got some scrapbooking books from the library the other day so I might have a flick through them on the weekend too.

My 12 Days of Christmas project is going well, have remembered to take photo’s each day and write notes.  I’ve decided to make the the album later once I’ve finished my gathering.  I’m also going to start a project from Big Picture Scrapbooking.  It’s called Glimpses and will be all about moi, me, myself.  It’s one of their free Projects Now; they have quite a few of them and also some very cheap classes too.  I’m not up to signing up for one of the big classes just yet so I thought I’d ease my way in first.  I’ve never done anything like this so it will be interesting to see how it goes.  I’ve printed out the worksheet and will start filling them in this week, I think it will be a very insightful look at myself and I may even learn somethings about me I didn’t know or realise.  Can’t wait.

All the Christmas present shopping is done so now I can focus on my scrapping projects, yipeee!  I plan to sort out my digital photo’s at some point too, I’ve borrowed a book on Photoshop Elements to help me find my way around the program so I hope to learn some tips and tricks as I’m just floundering around at the moment.

Christmas closes in…

15 Dec

Well it’s only 11 days till Christmas!  Amazing how those last few weeks just totally dissapear before your very eyes and you’re left in a total panic worrying if you’ve organised everything, and bought all the food and presents.  Well that’s me anyway – I’m sure a lot of you are super organised and are calmy floating through these few last days before Christmas feeling totally relaxed and enjoying every second.  Goal for next year – have everything organised for Christmas by November 30th.

I love Christmas though even if it might bring on my first grey hair this year.  The decorations, the food, spending quality time with friends and family.  It’s a very special time of year.  I’ve decided to record the twelve days of christmas starting yesterday and finishing on Christmas day.  I’ll take a photo and write notes each day and then compile it all in a mini book.  I got my inspiration from Ali Edwards December Daily but as the month is already halfway through I decided to keep it to 12 days.  I’m not sure if I should give it a theme like what I am thankful for each day?  We will see.  I will post my pictures up for you and try and take photo’s of the assembling of the book at the end.  i really like the idea of mixing and matching all the left over pockets, pieces and bits to make a book that’s full of variety like this one here.  The only thing is that Ali makes her album before she starts the photo taking and note taking so it’s all ready to go.  Sooo should I sit down and do the same or just compile it at the end?  Hmm some thinking to do on that one.

Tim Holtz has just finished his 12 Tags of Christmas for 2008 and I have a lot of interesting techniques and ideas that I want to have a play with.  Kaszazz stocks many of Tim’s products like Distress Inks and Distress Crackle Paint and more so it would be fantastic to show customers some new ideas for these products.  Tim’s blog is a mecca of information and his tutorials are clearly written and each step is photographed.  What a talented and generous guy!

Exciting news – I have finished one of my 2H Workshop Submissions and it will be tested this Wednesday.  Hopefully it won’t need much revision and I can send it in to Kaszazz.  I think it’s fabulous that Kaszazz Consultants can create workshops for Kaszazz and get paid for them.  And when they’re published your name goes on it too so it’s great recognition.  Once my workshop is published I will be able to post photo’s here for you.  I still have to write up my 5PQ and get it tested sometime soon.

Speaking of exciting news I am going to be teaching some Kaszazz workshops at the Kyabram Community and Learning Centre next February.  You can find more info here and I will list the dates on the blog also for easy reference.  I will be teaching 9 different workshops in total featuring various products and techniques so if you’re in the Kyabram area give them a call to book your seat, their phone number is 03 5852 0000.  Each workshop cost is exactly the same as the Kaszazz price listed on their website and includes tuition, materials and use of tools – super fantastic value!  To see photo’s of the projects simply note down the workshop name then log on to the Kaszazz website here and view the 2H Workshop Flyer – easy peasy!  I will be making up all the samples over the next few weeks so hopefully I can show you some pic’s of my progress.  I am so looking forward to it and I hope to see YOU there too.

I need to send out a Very Happy Birthday Wish for my dear friend Bettsy-Lou, aka Kylie who celebrated her birthday on the weekend.  Cheers to you lovely!

Today has dawned bright and sunny does this signify the end of our rain for summer?  It’s still fresh and breezy every morning and I’m jumping in and out of flannelette pyjama’s every night.  Very strange weather, they say Christmas Day will be our hottest in the last few years but I have my doubts.  So roast or bbq Christmas Lunch that is the question!

Stay safe

Kris

ps I am going to see Twilight tomorrow night – I finished the book a few weeks ago and can’t wait to see it.

lazy, rotten, scoundrel

25 Aug

Yep that’s me.  Well not really but I have been lazy when it comes to getting photo’s up on this blog and taking time to write in it.  I’ve just booked a week and a half of work (office job) so I can spend some time getting myself organised with my scrapbooking business, finishing off the scrap studio, paperwork, creative craftyness and other such things that I have not found the time to do lately.  So I swear I will organise a little photo studio and take a bunch of photos, edit and load them up for all the world to see (cringe).  So now I’m counting down – only two weeks until my time off so not long to wait.

On the weekend Shae came over and we started on our Clearly Cards Christmas kit.  It was very different using the acetate for the card base but we were excited by how great they look – photo to follow.  Shae got most of hers made but I wanted to finish a belated baby gift.  The gift got done and looked fabulous but on Sunday when I went to Broadford to see my friend I forgot it at home!  So typical, nevermind, once she has received the gift I will post pic’s.  I fussed over it for sooo long but I’m happy with the end result.  On a side note Shae and I finally made it to Tatura Bakery to try their award wining famous Vanilla Slice and yes it was so worth it.  Total yum.  I was never a huge fan of vanilla slice but theirs was perfect, creamy soft custard, crisp, flaky pastry.  A far cry from the slice I used to know; soggy pastry, bright yellow, hard custard, totally gross.  So if you haven’t tried Tat Bakery yet and you are in the vicinity I can highly recommend it.

On Friday night I took a trip to Spotlight and spent hours fussing over fabrics, ribbons and such for my craft challenge.  I nearly went crazy comparing prints, colours and prices.  It’s so hard when everything you know about sewing could be written on a grain of rice!  I ended up buying a gorgeous animal quilt fabric in brights and blues which I think will suit my project perfectly.  Did you notice I’m not revealing much?  I have a few ideas up my sleeve and I’m not sure what is going to work so until I get started on something I’m keeping mum.

So last night Australian Idol started again – is anyone else addicted to talent shows?  I’m sure there’s many of us out there.  I just love seeing all these cool, amazing singers and musicians we have in oz.  Did you catch the chick from Nowhere Creek, she was so good, really individual.  I’ll be keeping an eye on her.  I think Nowhere Creek(how cool) is between Avoca and Stawell, how many Nowhere Creeks can there be right?  Not sure how I’ll cope with keeping up with all my programs.  Now that the Olympics is over Heroes has returned and that is my one and only must watch show, then I guess Desperate Housewives will be back too.  And can anyone enlighten me on 90210?  I saw an ad and it starts tonight September 8 (how’d I get that wrong?) with what looks like only one original cast member Jenny Garth aka Kelly.  I have to admit that I literally grew up on Beverley Hills 90210.  I loved that show.  I think I even had to go to my boyfriends house to watch it cos we didn’t get that channel – that’s commitment!  Might take a peek at it.  So back to my dilemma – how do I balance my crafty fun with my fave tv programs?  More hours in the day?  I’ll think of something…

By the way DO NOT go over to Martha Stewart.com unless you have nothing to do for the rest of the day.  There is sooooo much cool, yummy, clever stuff on her website, yeah sure, you’ll check it out just for a quick look then the next time you look up from your computer screen it’s dark outside, the animals/kids are screaming for their dinner and you realise you’re parched and busting to go to the toilet at the same time!  Be warned!

12 Aug

I just got my first comment (yay) from my illustrious leader Sharynne – thanks lovey!  Ok so I’m taking it on board and going to post some more pic’s up here.  First cab off the rank is this one

Loverly Hang It

Loverly Hang It

it’s the Loverly Hang It for my workshop I’m holding this Saturday.  This was meant to be a Happy Hang It but my customers and I really weren’t that taken with the Happy design and colours so I choose to use the Loverly Pebbles kit instead.  I had to match up the right shade of blue and orange Bazzill and found that Cantaloupe and Starmist a perfect fit.  So girls that are coming on Saturday I hope this gives you an idea of the photo’s to bring.  You could add photo’s later too if you’ve nothing to suit right now.

As I type this I’ve got one eye on the computer and one eye on the cat.  I’m baby siting my “brother-in-law’s” kitten, Monty while they go for a holiday to Queensland.  The reason I use the inverted commas is because technically he’s not my brother in law but it’s just easier to use that term rather than say my partners, sisters boyfriend!  Monty is a cute little black cat and so far the dogs and one cat have made friends with him, but poor old Scratchy is a bit of a grump when it comes to new faces, they are currently sorting it out in the kitchen – I can hear hissing and growling!

Back to scrappin’.  Next is some pic’s of Christmas Card workshops, first one is the lovely Castaway Christmas Cards.

Castaway Christmas Cards

Castaway Christmas Cards

These cards feature a lot of embossing, including embossing on vellum which gives a gorgeous frosty look.  I love these cards as it’s nice to see colours other than the traditional red and green.  That said check out these cool Distress Ink Christmas cards.

Distress Ink Christmas Cards

Distress Ink Christmas CardsAnd I thought Distress Inks only came in brown tones! I have to aplogise for the hiddeous blue background. I was in a hurrry to take these photo's so I could post them so I didn't really put much thought into compositon, background and lighting. Will try better next time guys :o ) One last photo, yes it's another card workshop; Brayer Cards. If you're wondering what a brayer is (like I did when I first heard of it) it's like a hard rubber roller that you use to flatten out bubbles between your papers you're sticking together or to use with inks to even distribute the ink onto the stamp etc. These cards are one of my fave workshops as I just love the technique and the fabulous results. You may not see it very well in my photo but the cards have a glossy coloured finish with pale rubber stamped images showing through. You'll just have to come to the workshop and see for yourself, I promise you will be impressed. And it's a bargain, only $20 to learn the secrets of this fabulous technique. I'm putting up two photo's, one with the coloured card base and one with black card base as some people prefer one over the other. Let me know what you think looks better?Brayer Cards - Coloured BaseBrayer Cards - Black Base

Well I think that’s it for me this evening.  My poor little brain is tuckered out! G’night all and I hope some of you will leave a little comment and let me know what you think of my blog, or the cards or anything you want to talk about!
