Vintage gift

25 Aug

Today I want to share some little gifts that helped me snap out of my “winter funk”.  They are instant books and are made from one piece of card stock.  The instructions can be found on the Hero Arts website.  These are so quick and easy it’s almost a crime!  The decorating and embellishment were the longest part of this project.

I’ve used only one ink; vintage photo distress ink and some rub ons from the love and romance range from Kaszazz.  I wanted to make the bazzill card stock look old and worn and the distress ink was perfect to do just that.

After making the first one I decided to make one for each of the girls on my team.  Now that my sister-in-law has re-joined I have four directs and one level two.  It’s amazing to see my team grow after only two years and no serious campaigning from me lol.  Unfortunately some of the girls live quite far away so I don’t get to see them but I wanted everyone to know I think of them often so a little hand-made gift was just the thing.  Oh girls don’t peek if you haven’t received them in the mail yet hee hee.

If you clicked the link above and watched the tutorial you would have seen the book in the clip called How to Make Books by Esther K Smith.  I’d love to get my hands on one of these as I love the idea of making more books.  Also did you hear the instructors accent – what part of America is it from?  It’s really different but way cool.

If you have any links to book making I would love to take a peek, pop them in the comments section please!

Signs, signs, signs….

19 Aug

During my coming out of “winter funk” period I made some signs for my dear friend to teach her daughter (my god-daughter) the days of the week.  I stamped all the letters and icons then laminated and attached magnets so they can be stuck on the fridge.

I’m quite chuffed with how they turned out!  I tried to make the days quite bold and the background subtle so it wouldn’t be distracting to the learning process.  I also thought that I shouldn’t make them too girly that way Gab can use them for her little man too.  All stamps and inks are from Kaszazz.  I used the Vivid ink pads for the days as they are vibrant and stand out on white card stock.

Then I decided to make signs for my dishwasher with the same design.  We have the dish drawer type and it’s a pain pulling them out constantly to see which one has clean dishes and which one dirty.  Problem solved!  These work great and I think they look cute too.  Now if I could just get James to put his dirty dishes in there :P

Have you ever made teaching aids or signs for your dishwasher?  I’d love to see them; leave a link in the comments section.

Not a secret anymore…

29 May

Some big BIG news to share with you…

…….Kaszazz is bringing out their very own Die Cut Machine!

This is mega exciting as I have been humming and hawing about purchasing one for ages and now I will be able to get a Kaszazz one which means I can use it for workshops and demos.  We haven’t been given a release date yet but it’s definitely in the works and I think it may come out in the September release so start saving your pennies girls!  All I know about it is it’s a manual die cut machine that will take dies from all other manufacturers, it’s A4 size (huge) and it’s not one that is currently available in Australia.  I seriously cannot wait to see it.

If you are interested in finding out more about the Kaszazz Die Cut Machine please send an email to me at krismarr(at)iprimus(dot)com(dot)au and I will put you on a priority mailing list so as soon as I find anything out YOU will know about it straight away!

ATC Swap

23 Jan

Hello hello

Well I am hosting another swap on swap-bot after the success of my Christmas ornament swap.  It was so much fun I thought I’d do it again.  This swap is for ATC’s (Artist Trading Cards) and is aimed at both beginners and pro’s (people who make them all the time).  It’s an aussie only swap so it should be fairly cheap to post.  If you are interested in participating you will need to join swap-bot (which is easy peasy) and then head on over here to my swap.

I have only made a couple of ATC’s myself so I am definetely in the beginners catergory.  I haven’t seen many ATC’s in person so I’m looking forward to starting a nice little collection.  You can see some of the ones I made here and here.  The picture below is from this post, I think these were the very first ones I ever made.

I hope you join in, it’s going to be fun to see all the different creations!

In other news I need to do a little tweaking then I will have some photos to post of the February workshops, so be sure to pop back soon.  I am enjoying the first day of my 5 day weekend but am feeling that the hours are flying by already so I’m off to get some jobs crossed off my list.

Congratulations Therese I will be in touch soon.

Folks there are plenty more chances to win free products at the open day and you can still RSVP right up until the 24th.  Click here for more information.

I am a busy little bee getting things organised but I hope to be able to post some photos this weekend.  I just put in for Monday off so weeheeeee Kris has a five day weekend.  Yep you read that right, I get Monday off annual leave, Tuesday off for Australia Day and Wednesday is my regular non working weekday.  Bonus!  Hmm I guess now I have no excuses to to get those pictures up here and write some posts right?

Do any aussie readers have any Australia Day plans or traditions?  We haven’t really thought that far ahead (yes I know it’s only four days away!) and I don’t even know if James will have to work or not.  I think at least a bbq is order though.  I’d love to know what you will be doing this Australia Day – let me know via the comments.

cheers

…it’s almost Christmas!

21 Dec

Can you believe it?  Only four sleeps to go!  I can honestly say that I am pretty much organised, I only need to do one small grocery shop for fresh fruit and veggies and that’s it.  Are you all organised or do you think you’ll be doing a mad dash to the shops at the last minute?  If so I wish you luck!!!

I just wanted to wish you all a very merry Christmas or just a happy time if you celebrate something else.  As the days get busier I don’t know when I will be able to post next so I’ll sign off now for a wee little break.  I’ll try to post after Christmas but if not it will be after New Years.

I’ve also made an executive decision (pretty easy to do when you’re the boss) that I will start running workshops from home in February as I know most of us are pretty flat out in Jan especially those of us with kids on school holidays!  I will however be having a FREE Make and Take Demo on the last weekend of January to showcase the brand new products in the Jan release.  Make sure to mark it in your diary, I’m thinking Saturday the 30th from 10-2pm.  You don’t have to come for the whole day (but you are more than welcome to!) but I will ask for RSVP’s so I can organise gifts and prizes for all those attending.

I will put up a special post with all the details very soon as well as letting all customers on my mailing list know.  If you’d like to join the mailing list simply drop me a line at krismarr(at)iprimus(dot)com(dot)au – minus the brackets of course!

Well happy holidays folks, I hope you can find some quiet time for yourself to just sit, relax and reflect on this past year and dream about the possibilities for 2010!  Best wishes and warm hugs dear readers, thank you for your comments and support.

Lucy Stamps – old favorites!

8 Dec

Hi I just wanted to quickly let you know that if you were a fan of Lucy Stamps you can now get your “old favorites”  from Kaszazz!

There is a special section on our website where you can view them and check the price.  Then all you need to do is ring me with the code and I can order it for you.

Kaszazz have also decided that they will never delete a stamp totally; if it disappears from the current catalog you will still be able to see it in the “Old Favorites” section on the website and order it from your local Kaszazz consultant!  How great is that?

So hop along to the old favorites section and take a peek at the great stamps available.

cheers!!!
