March Challenge Competition

5 Mar

Already you may ask?  Don’t stress possums the February competiton is still running until March 20th.  I decided to overlap the two so I could get back on track to starting the challenges at the beginning of each month.

The challenge for March is PASTEL COLOURS.  With Easter on it’s way I feel inspired by all the pretty pastel pinks, blues, yellows and greens.

Now don’t feel you have to make an Easter card – you can make anything using pastel colours wether it be a card or scrapbook page or perhaps you might feel the urge to go off-the-page.

Speaking of Easter I’d love to hear of any traditions you have during this festive time.  I’m thinking of starting my own tradition but I need some ideas.  Leave me a note in the comments section.

Here’s my sample This is where my sample will soon appear!

Last day to get your entry to me is 31st March 09.  Remember you can check here for more details about challenge competitions.  There’s a $20 Kaszazz voucher up for grabs.  (Don’t forget to enter the “Feb comp” if you haven’t already done so!)

happy craftin’ and don’t forget to let me know about your Easter traditions,

Kris

paper punch inspiration

3 Mar

Hi All

I hope you are busy crafting away making some projects for the punch challenge competition!  I thought I would give you some more creative ideas (and a bit of a nudge!) so I hopped on over to the two peas site and these are some of the gems I found…

kimbermcgray

What a fabulous way to use a love heart punch!  Thanks to kimbermcgray for being so clever.

nylene

Some cute little cards using a flower punch from nylene.  She has used an old book to punch the flowers – never would have thought of that one.

nicol-magouirk

From nicol magouirk a lovely love heart layout.  Pink and green is so uplifting.

kimmylynnd1

And some fabulous flowers from kimmylynnd.  A great background paper and a few punched flowers makes for a simple yet stunning result.

There’s some very talented craftistas out there so head over to the two peas members gallery for inspiration.

Oh and I just had to show you this gorgeous idea from Shao Wang, I was going to post a picture here but it’s just not happening, something about bitmaps etc.  So head on over to Shao’s blog, she has lots of lovely little artworks.  I love the idea of making paper flowers, I must explore this further.  We don’t have many blooms in our garden and buying pretty bunches of flowers can be expensive sometimes so this would be a perfect solution!

Have fun and don’t forget to email me your creations,

Kris

PS  I hope to post my card samples for two up coming workshops soon.

February Challenge

22 Feb

Greetings friends and fellow craftistas,

This months challenge is……PUNCHES!  You know paper punches; they come in all different shapes and sizes, hearts, flowers, animals, circles, squares the list is endless.

So all you need to do is make a project using your punches and email me a photo or scan of it.

I love punches, they are fantastic and so versatile.  I especially love seeing the negative image from a punch being used (see below on left)- double the possibilities!

thankcards

I would love to hear your opinions on punches – do you use them?  Love them?  Hate them?  Let me know via the comments section.

You can find more info on my challenge competition here.  This comp will run until March 20th 2009.  Remember there’s $20 up for grabs to spend on Kaszazz products so get your entries in.  If you are a beginner I do encourage you to enter – it’s great practise and lots of fun.

Here’s my sample to give you some inspiration…

Eeek sorry about the colour, that base card is actually white!  Ooops.  Ok that photo was way too embarassing, I just had to drag myself outside to take a better shot.  Trust me this is much better!  Just a simple card using the folk heart punch whale, corner rounder, ColorBox pigment ink and a white gel pen.  Easy!

Can’t wait to see your creations.

Happy crafting

Kris

  • Many of you would know we have been ravaged by fires here in Victoria and the death toll is high.  Fortunately my family and friends have not been affected so I am very gratefull for that.
  • There’s also been big floods up north.
  • Before the fires we were suffering a two week long heat wave.  I have never experienced anything like that in my life.  It was horrible not being able to cool down for so many days in a row.  It was especially hard on the puppies.
  • as a result of said heatwave the banner picture of my pretty little flowers is all that’s left of them!  Yes they totally frizzled up even with lots of water.
  • Happy Valentine’s Day everyone, I hope you are all able to spend some time today with those you love.  James and I use Valentine’s as our official anniversay date – it’s a little early but so close it doesn’t matter.  Three years has flown by.
  • I made a chocolate ripple cake aka zebra cake for our anniversary dinner tonight.  I know my mum used to make them now and then but I don’t recall ever making one myself.  They are so easy it’s stupid.  If you have kids this would be a great cake to make with them as everything is cold; I can imagine it may make quite a mess though.
  • I have had my 3 Make and Take submissions accepted so a sneak peek might be in order.  As yet they haven’t been published on the Kaszazz website so I’m hesitant to reveal all – I must clear this up one day.
  • On March the 1st which is a Sunday there will be a massive fund raising crop day (in Shepparton) for the fire victims appeal.  We will be running workshops, giving things away, drawing prizes and all proceeds will go to the appeal.  You can also just come along and bring all your own projects to work on too; we will have a special area set up just for this.  Email or leave a comment if you’d like more info.
  • I need a gardener.  Our lawns look like a jungle and there’s weeds all over the place!   Our mower broke and we no longer have a whipper snipper so things are looking crazy.
  • I have a winner for the challenge competition – I will put a special post up shortly.
  • I think that’s everything out the top of my head right now.

Thanks for tunning in

Kris

New Products Today!

19 Jan

Morning All

Today is the day – brand new product release from Kaszazz, hip hip hooray!  Gorgeous new paper ranges; My Boy with stars and cars in primary colours and My Girl with hearts and cupcakes in purples and pinks.  They even have co-ordinating 2 and 3 step stamps.  There’s a host of other new stamps too; little people, asian influence, flora, bears and more.  You can check out all the new products on line HERE.

And thus with new products comes new workshops; it’s a very exciting time!  For the first time we have workshops on making Artist Trading Cards.  Often called ATC’s these cards are made by artists and creative people alike as miniture works of art to showcase their talents.  They are the size of a baseball card and can feature many different mediums such as paint, collage, pencil, textile arts, stamping, calligraphy, watercolour – just about anything you could think of.  ATC’s are traditionally traded not sold and can be used to promote an artist.  They are usually made in limited numbered editions or as unique one of”s.  Our Artist Trading Card 5PQ Workshops will introduce you to this lovely tradition of miniture art.  I’m really excited about these workshops as it will be good for anyone who thinks they’re not arty or creative to let go of these negative thoughts and just have fun with it.  Of course where would we be without a fabulous new Artist Trading Card stamp set – available in the new flyer, it has over 90 stamps and includes the all important info stamp for the back of your ATC to fill in the details of your name, ATC title, edition and so on.  I already have this stamp set so now I am going to bust it out and put it to good use.  You can view the 5PQ Workshop flyer HERE.  Keep an eye out for photo’s of my ATC’s coming soon!

There’s also some lovely new 2H Workshops that you can view HERE.  The new beyond the page, cards and scrapbook page workshops look great and feature the brand new products in the flyer.  Wow how will I keep up with it all?  I am thinking that it’s time to set some dates for workshops at my place so stay tuned and I’ll post them up in the next few days.

Now don’t forget about my monthly competition - there’s a great prize – $20 to spend on any Kaszazz product you like – it could be some of the new stuff, stamps, papers whatever your heart desires!  Read all about it in my previous post HERE.  Now it’s not hard and it doesn’t have to be all fancy so please don’t think that you’re not good enough or crafty enough – just have a go and you might just win, it’s open to beginners and experts alike.  Any questions please drop me a line or comment here on the blog.

Ok lots to do so I’d best be off

Kris

just a quickie ;o)

10 Jan
  • I have added a page about my Kyabram workshops; see right column under pages.  If anyone has any questions at all please contact me.
  • Don’t forget to check out my monthly competition; see post below.
  • I don’t think I posted this photo of the completed Fun in the Sun Stand Up Page so here it is now…(it’s one of the workshops I’ll be teaching in Kyabram)

funsunstandup-wshop

That’s me and my granma.  She used to sing that song “you are my sunshine, my only sunshine…” a lot when I was younger so when I was racking my brain for a title I thought that was quite appropriate.  The photo’s were taken when I was living in Brisbane and granma came to visit, that was a long time ago, 1994!

  • I finished the Happy Hang It (also one for Kyabram) and made a couple of quick and cute cards using some of the left overs…

happyhangit

thankcards

As some of you know I was apprehensive about the Happy Hang It – I have previously made it with the Loverly range instead – but I think it came out great.  I tried not to have too much white base showing as I think it’s just way too much.  I could have changed it again but as it’s for Kyabram I needed to leave it as original as possible.  My babies look so cute don’t they?

  • ok now I’m off to work on more Kyabram stuff

Talk soon

January Competition!

9 Jan

edit: am trying something new – this post will stay up here on top until Feb 9th!

update: some customers have mentioned that they don’t yet own lots of Kaszazz products to be able to do the challenge so I’m going to let you bend the rules a little!  As long as you use some Kaszazz products in your project you can still enter the competition.

Welcome to my first monthly challenge competition.  Lets get this year underway with a celebration!  Jan 26th marks Australia Day, a time to be proud to be an aussie and remember how lucky we are to live in this sunburnt country.  SO this months challenge theme is the colours of the Australian flag; red, white and blue.  Yep I’m going patriotic folks!

flag

Use these colours on a card, scrapbook page or beyond the page project.  No specific shades so you have a bit more room to move.  Fairly simple?  As always drop me a line if you have any questions.

Here is my example…

 jan-blog-comp

Sorry about the glare!  Here’s a quick and simple page I whipped up tonight.  Of course you don’t have to do a scrapbook page; a card is an easy option for beginners.  Just let your imagination run wild and if you get stumped – “scraplift”.

Here’s a list of products I used:

Enchanted Cherry Blossom SB paper – the dotty side

Jacaranda or Lakeshore Bazzill cardstock (I will confirm this; I’m hoping to get a swatch very soon as some colours are hard to differentiate)

Agean Blue Ancient Page ink

Snow White Paint Dabber

A-letta’s Foam Stamps (I heart foam stamps)

All Boy! stamp set

White Grosgrain ribbon

Magic Mount and Super Tape to keep it all together

EDIT: oops I forgot to mention the Aged Mahogany Distress Ink.  And of course the Acrylic Blocks for the un-mounted stamps! Black Permaball was used for the journaling.

Competition starts NOW and ends Feb 10th.  Email your entry to me and don’t forget to list the Kaszazz products you use in your project (abbreviated is fine – no codes needed).  For more general details on competitions see previous post.  Remember the winner gets to spend $20 on any current Kaszazz product they desire!  Use your prize money to get something brand new from the New Product Flyer out on Jan 19!

Ok now go get craftin’ and that means all of you, no excuses!  I know each of you has a little bit of creativity inside of you even when you say you don’t!

Challenge Competitions!

9 Jan

I thought it was about time we started a little friendly competition around here so watch this space for details about the first of my monthly comps.  Due to my newness at this type of thing I will be limiting entries to my Kaszazz customers at this stage just to make things easier (on me mostly!)  If you’re not currently one of my customers but are interested in buying some product or hosting a demo or workshop please contact me via email (below) and I can add you to my list.

To make it interesting I will give each months competition a challenge theme and I’ll post a photo of my own creation for inspiration.   Easy peasy right?  Any questions just drop me a line.

Now for the good part: Prizes!  Each month a winner will be chosen by none other than, ahem, me and you will be awarded $20 to spend on any Kaszazz products, woo hoo how cool is that?    Winners will be notified via email and also on this blog.  Your products will be available for pick up or delivered at your next workshop or with your next order.  (Prize not redeemable with any other consultant!)

To enter send a photo of your project to me via email and a list of any Kaszazz products you’ve used.  Please note your entries may appear “up in lights” on this blog so if you are particularly adverse to having your project published please say so in your email!

Ok look out for the first competition post coming verrry soon.

Stay tuned crafters

Kris
