TGIF!  Today is the last of the teddy bears so I’ll leave you with this super cute creation.  I have just bought this awesome angel wings stamp and I am champing at the bit to put it to use as I’ve got a head full of great ideas to use it with.  You can use these wings with just about anything; people, animals wether stamped or photos.  I think this will become one of the most used stamps in my collection!

Do you like it?  I used the oatmeal base to tone down all that pink and I love the way it looks.  I like doing edge stamping and doodling with gel pen to tie things together; it’s so modern and funky looking and the best thing is you don’t have to worry about drawing straight lines!  It’s a great technique for beginners and those of us who worry about “freehand” creating.

So have you got a jam packed weekend planned?  I’m going to concentrate on getting some layouts and card workshops done as well as having some fun making mini albums and journals.  And somewhere in there I’ll squeeze in some baking too!

Have a great one

This week we’ve been making paper creations with Teddy Bears and it got me thinking about childhood toys.  Did you have a teddy bear when you were little?  I had one that was similar to Big Ted on Playschool, as well as a large Pink Panther which was later paired with a mini pink panther.  My most loved though was a little lamb by the name of Lamby (of course) who had a rattle in her head.  I dressed her in a handmade crocheted dolls dress, the same dress I once put on my cat while she was sleeping….I have a photo somewhere, animals can be so tolerant!  I still have Lamby, she is safely tucked away in a pillowcase in the linen closet and now I really feeling like pulling her out and giving her a cuddle, ahh sweet memories.

Anyway here is today’s creation, a gorgeous little box just the right size for a few treats or a nice surprise.

I embossed the pinecone bazzill with perfect medium and the ornate leaves rollergraph before I folded it up.  The old bear was stamped onto some ebony and ivory paper with walnut distress ink (love that stuff) which I also used on the edges of the box lid.  I was really happy with the embossing as the texture of the bazzill came through giving it a nice linen type look.  I decided I need to try imperfect embossing for a more distressed look; so that’s on my growing to do list now.  I don’t know why I’ve never made any little boxes before – they are so, so simple and I think I might be able to attempt Jo’s acetate box now!

Did you see the sweet baby layout that Tina made on Tuesday?  Great idea for a mum to be.  Ahh if only there were more hours in the day for me to create and play!

Happy Hump Day!  Today is my day off and we are going to get our tax returns done, hopefully the returns will be in our favour ha ha ha.  I think my cold is getting better and I’ve decided that I will have to start walking the puppies everyday.  Even if it’s just around the block it’s better than nothing right?  Hmm I’ll let you know how that goes!

Here is my third card for this week.  I’ve used the two stamps from one of the doodle designs sets, yes that round blue background is a stamp.  I love the idea of stamping a coloured background and then your image in black over the top and as a bonus they fit in the circle punch too.

I did edge the card and sentiment in the same blue ink but you can’t really see it in the photo.  When I’d finished I thought it looked a bit plain, you know it lacked that certain something so I attacked it with crystal ice icestickles.  I followed the lines on the woodgrain pattern here’s a close up…

It makde a big difference.  So now I have another baby card just in case….anyone else having a baby?  You could also make a girl version or a unisex one as a happy pregnancy as the papers also come in a pink and a yellow colour.

I must take some photos of the cards we made at Kaszazz training on Saturday, they are just beautiful and could easily have the sentiments switched to Christmas themed ones, gotta love cards like that!  I have a big list of scrapping/card making to do for a friend so I really need to get going and make a start.  I also can’t wait til my order comes as I’m planning on making some Make and Take cards to submit to Kaszazz and I might even do a 2 hour workshop while I’m at it!  It’s been a while since I last submitted anything and I do enjoy creating workshops.

Things to do, places to go…

Edit:: Golly don’t know where this post dissapeared too, it was meant to be up Monday night, oops.  Anyway here it is!!

Good evening all

Told you I would be posting a project today!  I can’t believe I forgot to set it up yesterday – that’s not like me to be unorganised hee hee.  I do try my best to be one of those terribly organised and together type persons but sometimes I fall a little short!

bwbears1

I made this card for my dear friend Gab who had a little boy not long ago, and she received it today so it makes it ok for me to post it here now, how convenient!  The bear is actually embossed in gold even though in the photo he looks rather glittery.  I then used my aquacolor crayons and an aquash brush (water pen) to colour him in.  I think I need more practice with this technique as I’m not 100% happy with the colouring.  I could have gone over it but because I was using normal card and not water colour card it would have ended up very wet and warped.  The outside of the base card is edged using walnut distress ink and an ink blending tool.  All products Kaszazz.  That bear stamp is going on my wish list…will it be on yours too?

Hope you like it.  I’ll be posting one project per day this week so make sure to come back and take a gander and don’t forget to see what other teddy bear creations are out there; links to the other blog war ladies over to the right!

Ciao

I have to say I am really over being sick!  I have a cold at the moment and you may remember me recently moaning about hurting my back and before that having the flu?  Will it ever end?  Sorry just had to get that off my chest!  I think it might be the lack of exercise and fruit in my diet that’s contributing to my lack of health lately.  Does anyone else find it hard to eat a lot of fruit in winter?  And it’s way to cold to go for a walk … right?

Onto the bear…

bwbears2

I haven’t really been into bears in stamping much but I am loving these old tradtitional style bears.  They are just a classic image and so easy to make cards with.  I’ve stamped this old friend onto the b-side of the Rustic paper with walnut distress ink and it’s a bit hard to see but I popped a little glossy accents on his nose!  It looks excellent in real life and gives the card that lift it needed.  The base card is Java Bazzill which I’ve dragged the scissors around for a bit of ditressing.  This is a sweet card to give someone who might be feeling a bit down, or even as a sympathy card to let them know you care.

Ok I’m off to do some sneezing…I mean work!

Take care and if you’re in a cold part of the world right now, do rug up!
