Button Badges Back In Store

24 Nov

Just in time for Christmas I’m loading some more of my funky badges into my krismakes madeit shop.  Depending on where you live you might call these buttons, badges, pin-backs or brooches but they are all an awesome way to decorate your wardrobe.  Keep an eye out for future posts where I will show you the different ways I like to wear my badges.

I make my badges from old books and comics that were damaged and destined for the dump.  I look for images that are still in good condition and will fit on the badge with the best part of the image showing – you have to be careful because the badge maker machine “wraps” the image around the badge blank so if you’re not paying close attention you might loose the best bit.  I use a circle paper punch to cut my image after I have carefully removed the whole page from the book.

I also make some lovely fabric badges too.  I try to get really nice patterns and florals for these in fun colours.  For the fabric badges I have to hand cut the circle out as the punch only works on paper.  I think the fabric badges look particularly nice on a plain coloured t-shirt – they really pop.

So badges will cover all your gift giving needs this xmas.  I’ve got badges for him…

badges for her…

and badges for the little ones…

krismakes badges come packaged on a kraft coloured tag with twill ribbon ready for giving.  They are really lightweight so are a great pressie to pop in the post especially for overseas as they will fit into a standard envelope making the postage not much more than a letter.  Perhaps you are an avid swapper like me on swap-bot or similar?  Badges cater to so many tastes you really can’t go wrong.  I am more than happy to post to an alternative address and include a little note with your details for your swap partner – just make sure to provide the details in the notes to seller section.

Keep checking the shop as I’ve got more badges to upload as well as some other goodies 😉

I’m Baaack….to blogging!

26 Oct

Hello Folks

Great to see you again – if there’s anyone still out there, tee hee.  My sincere apologies to any loyal readers that I have neglected, I won’t blame you if you gave up waiting for me to post.  I thought I could run a facebook page for my craft however not having a personal account did not agree with FB and it was fraught with issues.  After much frustration I have decided to give that the flick..and head back here to try and resurrect this blog.

Previously I had decided to only do craft or my craft business related posts here but you know what?  The hell with it! This is my blog, that’s my name up there and I’m going to write whatever the heck I feel like.  Hmm this should be interesting.

So I guess a quick update is in order then you say?  Okey dokey.  At this point in time I am currently working 3 casual jobs, logging in approx. 30 hours a week.  So what? I hear you say, well for me that’s a fair bit.  I’ve been a part time worker for many years – it’s just how I roll baby!  I love being at home, being a little traditional in the household department and for my mental health I am so much better when I don’t work full time.  And what about the money?  Well I’m not rich but I make it work for me, I’m careful with my money, I have a pardner who works full time and contributes accordingly and the trade off is that I do do those things around the house.  It just works for us.  Any way previously I’ve been permanent part time so changing to casual was very scary, I may do a post exploring this.  Over the past year there’s been many ups and downs but I think things are finally settling into place {thank goodness}.

For me, working 30 hours and doing all the housey stuff doesn’t leave much time for craftyness, either that or I’m just too tired.  I take my hat off to all you workers and mothers and dads etc that do everything – you are amazing!  So we will just see what happens with this blog and take it day by day.  I’d love to commit to a certain number of posts per week but in the past I have always failed that miserably so I’m too chicken to go it again.

I might leave it at that for now and let’s see what happens next…I’m kinda excited to have free reign on my blog, yipee!

Happy Trails

Pretty Embossing

16 Jun

A very long time ago, before I had my very own Cuttlebug, some friends came to stay and play and I made a whole heap of embossed cardstock using their machine.  Well it’s kind of embarrassing to admit that those pieces of cardstock have been sitting in my little card box for umm maybe two years…or more!  Anyway the other day I said to myself enough is enough and I got happy pinning dry embossed inspiration on Pinterest.  Like this…

from scrapbooking technique…and this

from Our Little Inspirations.

Aren’t they both lovely and different?  There was so much gorgeousness on Pinterest my eyes just about went googly.  So, full of inspiration, I toddled off and started using those bits of embossed cardstock and these are what I came up with…

I love the simplicity of the all white design.  I’ve never done a monochromatic card before – is that the right term when it’s all white or doesn’t white count as it’s not really a colour?  Let’s not get started on that debate ha ha.  I was worried it was going to look awful, especially when I realised the whites were all er, different whites.  So now I’m totally into this style of card making, it’s just so elegant.

These others are quite lovely too, it’s such a pity I am at the end of my pastel cardstock and Kaszazz not longer sell those packs.  Typical huh?  Just goes to show you should not hoard your supplies!

DSC04678I’ve made a few others that I’ll be putting in my shop if you want a gander at them too.
